Shagufta Naheed,
I was born in Roorkee a small town in Uttaranchal in India. It’s
a beautiful city which is home to the famous IIT Roorkee. It is
located near the sacred city of Hardwar. I did my Masters in
Economics and obtained a Bachelor degree in Education (B.Ed.)
from the Meerut University. Obtaining and imparting education
has always been my passion throughout my life. That was the
reason that I continued with my studies even after my marriage.
Both of my higher degrees were obtained after my marriage.
Someone has said ‘that a mediocre teacher tells, a good teacher
explains, a superior teacher demonstrates but a great teacher
inspires.’ I too believe that we should try to inspire and
involve all the students in the teaching process and make them a
part of it, so that they may understand and grasp what has been
taught to them. I earnestly believe that a mind is not a vessel
to be filled but a fire to be kindled.
My first job was at the Children’s Academy, Bijnor, Uttar
Pradesh. Then I came to Riyadh with my husband. In Riyadh I
worked at the Sager International School where I taught Hindi,
Islamic Studies to students of class I to V and later
Mathematics and Science to the primary standard students. I
worked there for more than two years till I received a call from
the Delhi Public School, Riyadh. I am delighted to be the part
of this renowned school but also understand the responsibilities
which come along with this association. I end with the following
lines:
Happiness keeps you sweet,
Trials keep you strong,
Sorrow keeps you human,
Failure keeps you humble,
Success keeps you glowing,
But only God keeps you going. |
